Landowners, be prepared!

Weather (temperature + rainfall) affects how fuel burns. Prescribed burning is critical to manage wildfires, and should be done under safe weather conditions.
To apply for a burn permit or to find out more about prescribed burning, contact your local fire department or your local FPA.

Invasive alien plants (AIP) pose a very high fire risk. They create up to 10 times the fuel load of that of our indigenous plants.
AIPs cause hotter fires, making it more difficult to control. This is a major concern to the environment as it can lead to the loss of life and property, and it damages the structure of the soil.
Higher loads of invasive plant species also result in fynbos seeds being destroyed.
