2021 Annual Fire Prohibition Notice

The Eastern Cape Annual Fire Prohibition Notice for 2021-2022 is available.

Please take note of the following:

The Eastern Cape Provincial Disaster Management Centre (EC-PDMC) a directorate within the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) hereby advises that due to the Veld Fire Season and prevailing Drought conditions, no burning or open fires as defined are permitted in the following specified areas and periods:

  1. Makana Municipality from 01 July 2021 until 31 October 2021;
  2. Kouga – and Koukamma Municipalities from 01 November 2021 until 28 February 2022;
  3. Ndlambe- and Sundays River Valley Municipalities from 01 November 2021 until 31 January 2022;
  4. Dr Beyers Naude Municipality from 01 August 2021 until 31 March 2022;
  5. Blue Crane Route Municipality from 01 August 2021 until 30 April 2022
  6. Amathole District from 01 July 2021 – 31st October 2021
  7. Chris Hani District from 01 August 2021 – 31st October 2021
  8. Joe Gqabi District from 01 July 2021 -31 January 2022
  9. R. Tambo District from 01 August 2021 – 31st October 2021
  10. Alfred Nzo District from 01 August 2021 – 31st October 2021
  11. Buffalo City Metro from 01 June 2021 – 31st August 2021
  12. Nelson Mandela Metro from 1st November 2021 – 30th April 2022

 

NOTE: Burning will be allowed as per the conditions set out in the notice.
