“ECUFPA GOES GREEN!”
We can’t help but see each and every news headline talk about ‘Global Warming”, “Climate change”, “Loadshedding” and “High electricity costs” – matters that we simply cannot shove under the rug. As of 13 May 2022, the Eastern Cape Umbrella Fire Protection Association has installed photovoltaic panels or commonly known as ‘solar panels’, combined with an inverter system.
Why did we go Solar?

- Long-term assurance: with the country’s state of electricity supply which has resulted in an electrical crises and increased demand for continuous power. Solar energy has proven to be a renewable resource and cost effective in the long run.
- Decreases damage on land and habitats: factories and\or mines need to be built for the process of mining fossil fuels – bringing damage to the ecosystem, which means that there are a lot of trees being cut down and almost no rehabilitation done in these ecosystems.
- Fights against climate change & helpful to the environment: well, let us face it – greenhouse effects will definitely be a huge problem for the future generations. Investing in clean energy simply decreases air & water pollution which means slowing down climate change.
