A warning has been issued from SAWS (South African Weather Service) through DAFF (Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries), stating a HIGH FIRE DANGER for Friday around most of the Eastern Cape Province. However, weather forecasts indicate that the HIGH TO EXTREME FIRE RISK is forecasted to go up until (and including) next week Wednesday, 31 August 2016.
Please take careful note of this high-extreme fire weather forecasted for the next five (5) days.
Forecasts show that the days and nights will be very high Fire Danger Ratings (i.e. high temperatures and low humidity) with no break in the dangerous weather. This will make fires behave extremely aggressively and make fire suppression a dangerous and extreme task.
Please be extremely vigilant, cautious and well prepared. Remember that fast reaction to fires is important – hit fires “hard & fast” and suppress them as quick as possible!
Wishing you all a safe week ahead.
