The Organisation:
The SBW FPA was established in May 2016 as a voluntary association in terms of the National Veld and Forest Fire Act No. 101 of 1998. It covers the western part of the Sarah Baartman District in the Eastern Cape province and is affiliated to the Eastern Cape Umbrella FPA. The Association aims to contribute to the development of communities and land owners by reducing risks, loss of life, human injury, resources, and assets in veldfires and by progressively reducing impacts on property and environment while promoting the useful role of veldfires. The Association therefore aims to always manage high risks as soon as possible and to educate its members about better fire management.
Role Description:
The FPA Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management of the FPA and will play an important part in communication to members. The Manager will report to the Executive Committee and will implement projects as directed by the Exco. A large part of the manager’s activities will involve recruitment of new members and establishment of plans and processes for each management unit in the FPA.
