BEDFORD FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (BEDFORD FPA) hereby announces the publication of the draft version of their Section 5(1)(a) Veldfire Management Strategy for the registered area of the BEDFORD FPA, which is located in portions of the Raymond Mhlaba and Blue Crane Route Local Municipalities, in the Amathole and Sarah Baartman Districts respectively.

This strategy has been drafted to be in-line with Section 5(1)(a) of the National Veld and Forest Fire Act, 101 of 1998, which reads as follows:
5. (1) A fire protection association must at least-
(a) develop and apply a veldfire management strategy for its area;
This strategy has been drafted to enable the strengthening of veldfire management in the BEDFORD FPA area and to provide for a mechanism to achieve a better integrated fire management approach.
Any Landowners and interested Stakeholders within the BEDFORD FPA Area are open to comment on the Veldfire Management Strategy.
